To be quite honest, 2020 is a scary year for me. This new year symbolizes a time of change, growth and loss. 2020 is the year that I graduate college. It’s also the year that I will have to decide where I want to begin my professional career. It’s also the year that I might be saying goodbye to my hometown, my friends, and everything that became my norm in the past four years. 2020 is going to be a crazy year for all us college grads, so before I get too sappy, I’d like to look back on everything that made 2019 one of the best years to date.

January

I dove into 2019 by moving across the country to spend a semester living in LA. I started my dream internship working on THE Sunset Boulevard where the Hollywood sign greeted me every morning. I took my first road trip to Malibu and quite literally could not believe that my childhood dream of moving to LA was real.

The LA adventures continued with tons of hiking, good food, and exploring nearby cities. I immersed myself in the Hollywood culture by attending a Netflix premiere, a test screening of Shazam!, and touring the Warner Brothers studio (which I highly recommend doing if you’re ever in LA).

March

My last full month in LA included as many trips back up to Malibu as possible, as well as other road trips to cities even more beautiful than the last. Basically, March was the month to be as LA as possible before it was all over.

April

And just like that, paradise was about to end. I couldn’t leave LA without having at least one more adventure, though. Our day trip to Catalina Island was quite possibly the best day of my life. I will never forget going sea kayaking off of a gorgeous island with friends that felt like family.

May

As sad as I was about being forced to return home to NJ, I couldn’t be too sad because May meant my birthday was coming up! Being back on the east coast also gave me the opportunity to indulge in City Bakery before they closed.

June

June was also an exciting month because it marked the start of my lease on my college home! It was also the first time since December that all my roommates and I were together again. I was still coming off the travel high from all my LA trips, so I ventured down to Dallas, Texas to visit my brother. I also started another internship in NYC this month.

July

I really couldn’t help myself from travelling this year, which is why the 4th of July brought me to a weekend in Rhode Island. At the end of the month, my mom and I took a short trip to Martha’s Vineyard on the hottest weekend of the summer. Maybe not the best move on our part.

August

In August, a summer in NYC came to an end. I said goodbye to early morning commutes and coworkers that I grew close with, but I also got ready to start my senior year of college.

September

September was a marathon event, let me tell ya. We went all out for the theme nights at our favorite bar, and had more roomie bonding than ever before. I already miss the warm weather and days we spent hanging out on the roof.

October

The semester started to get hard, so my roommates and I decided to take a weekend away from Quinnipiac. We made a road trip out of the drive to Boston and got some “family” photos of the six of us.

November

So maybe the fall of 2019 didn’t have as much travelling as the rest of the year, but I was still looking forward to it because of the Jonas Brothers concert tickets that I had bought all the way back in May. Once again, a dream of mine came true this November when I got to see my favorite childhood band perform live.

December

Another fun but sad month. I said goodbye to my first semester of senior year and accepted the fact that there’s only one more semester of college left. Of course, we couldn’t go out without a bang.

2019 was a year full of dreams coming true and amazing adventures that I’ll never forget. 2020, I’m ready to see what you have to offer.
