Do I ever have to say that this year was not what I thought it would be? I've spent so much time complaining about how awful this year was, and in many ways, it took a huge toll on me and my world. But scrolling through my camera roll, there were a handful of moments that I actually wish I could go back to.

That statement is something I'm grateful I have the opportunity to say. I'm not sure what you or I would gain from reminiscing on the bad times of 2020, so here's a look back on the highlights of the year.

January

The year began with drinks, drinks and more drinks. I started off 2020 with a night out in NYC and my dream of moving there straight after graduation carried me through the streets of downtown Manhattan.

Back at school, second semester was in full swing. That meant theme nights every weekend at our favorite local bar. I'm so glad I went all out for 90's night and danced until lights came on every Friday night.

March

The last month of normal college life and did we go out with a bang. We hopped on a flight to Fort Lauderdale for spring break, and although a straight week of sun and booze was a doozy, I'm so glad I did it. I will always look back on that trip with a smile but I absolutely will NOT return to America's Backyard again (iykyk).

And quarantine begins. We went down from 7 housemates to 3 of us confined to a shitty college house that could have been taken down to the ground with one gust of wind. Our hearts hurt for the days of ubering to New Haven clubs on the weekend, but we found our own fun in crawling out our bedroom windows for rooftop happy hours. I don't know how I would have gotten through that first month without these two.

May

The most bittersweet month of the year. In May, I graduated college without a ceremony and said goodbye to my amazing roommates. But I also started dating my best friend and the love of my life and a new era began.

June

Finally, the world started to feel a little more normal when I was able to have a small graduation celebration with my closest childhood friends. It felt so good to come together and just see each other in person for once.

July

With the northeast's COVID cases getting lower and lower, we were able to get away for a little and enjoy the summer. A weekend trip to the Hamptons and a beach vacay in Cape May with my boyfriend's family was some much needed relaxation.

August

We got the roomies back together again! It's so weird to go from living with 6 roommates to living at home.

September

At the very beginning of the month, I took Chris to my favorite place on Earth for the first time. We ate tons of seafood and enjoyed the slower pace of life in southern Maine.

October

October brought a small taste of college life again when my roommates and I booked it to URI for a day. Although I miss the darty life, I already can't hang as much as I could senior year :\

And the inevitable happened. Cases were on the rise again, which meant hanging with friends was becoming less and less of a good idea. So my mom and I got in the festive mood early this year with lots of food to celebrate.

December

It felt like the holidays lasted all of December this year. Although they looked a little different, it was one of the best holiday seasons yet because I got to spend it with my favorite person on the planet.

A very merry Christmas with Chris
