For Christmas, my mom got me this book that I've been wanting to read for so long now.
It's called the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and it's basically about how she dedicated a year of her life to being more happy.
Each month, she focuses on fixing an aspect of her life. In January, she focuses on "energy" and strives to de-clutter her house and go to sleep earlier. In February, she focuses on fixing her marriage (unrelatable, but you do you sister). In March, she focuses on work and setting goals for herself to enhance her career. Her goal is to see that if by December, she is a happier person.
I haven't finished it yet, so I can't tell you the answer. However, this book has really inspired me to try my own happiness project and to customize it to my life.
I've been thinking about some things that I want to change, since obviously, marriage wouldn't be one of them lol. But maybe one month I could focus on "friendships" and exploring how I can be a good friend, while also cutting off people who aren't good friends to me.
If you read my New Years Resolutions article, you know that I also want to focus on health. So maybe one month I can walk my ass over to gym and eat more veggies.
Rubin says in her book that to do the Happiness Project doesn't mean that you are necessarily unhappy in life. I'm SO happy with where I am at right now. I'm enjoying my last semester of college and I'm excited when I think about the future.
The Happiness Project is for people who want to make changes to their lives, whether that be to become more productive, healthier or form better relationships with their loved ones.
And although this seems easy, Rubin dedicates her whole year to this every single day. She charts her accomplishments and is always mindful of what she needs to do in order to meet her goals.
I recommend this book and this project to literally everyone that is willing to take on a challenge. I am excited to finish it and begin my own Happiness Project.
