Thoughts Going Into Second Semester of Senior Year

I've had a bunch of bittersweet moments in my life.

The one that stands out to me the most is my last summer at sleep away camp. After 6 summers, this camp had become my 2nd home. My last summer was the best summer ever. My friends and I were the oldest and were deemed "the most important" by all the counselors and younger campers. We took advantage of every moment. We went to tennis practice, even when we were tired. We went in the lake, even when it was too cold. We no longer had countdowns to visiting day, like we did when we were younger, because we didn't want to rush the time away. Although we were having the time of our lives, we knew that summers as we knew them were coming to an end. And that saddened and frightened us more than anything.

So that's what being a second semester senior feels like.

Although it hasn't really started to feel bittersweet yet since the semester just began, I know it will hit soon once we reach milestones like Spring break, graduation photos, and our last few days going out. This is when we'll realize that time has flown. We'll be sad and scared to enter the real world, but the most important thing is that we continue to take advantage of every opportunity. Spend time with your roommates and friends, because who knows where all of you will end up after graduation. Go out and have a lot of fun, because how many times will you be able to go to a bar after your 9-5 job. Also, try not to stress so much. I know that focusing on a full course load, finding a job after college, and finding the time to be with friends seems absolutely impossible. If you take it day by day, you won't feel as rushed to skip to the next part of your life.

I'm really excited for this semester. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun and make a ton of memories. And honestly, I'm excited to graduate! I can't wait to feel that sense of accomplishment when I realize I'll never have to take a single class again.

But for now, I'll be focusing on today and not May 8th.
