What Not To Do During College Finals Week

No matter what major you are or where you go to school, finals season is ROUGH. All of a sudden, projects and cumulative exams are coming at you left and right. It’s actually rude how professors seem to forget their class isn’t the only one you’re taking. Before you get completely overwhelmed with the insane amount of responsibilities you have in the upcoming weeks, here are some tips to make your finals go as smoothly as possible.
Don’t Do Everything At Once
Yes, we’re all capable of cramming the day before a test or trying to finish all our projects on the same day, but literally why would you do that to yourself? There’s no better feeling than going to study for an exam and remembering you already made your study guide. Making flashcards or a Quizlet a day or two before you actually plan on studying has been a lifesaver for me.
Don’t Compromise Sleep
If you’re the type of person that stays up late into the night doing homework, props to you. My brain shuts off as soon as the clock hits 9 pm. In my experience, going to bed early has a better outcome than sacrificing sleep to study for one more hour. If you really need more time with the material, you can always cut down your slumber by waking up early.
Don’t Take Every Test on the Same Day
Some schools will let you finesse your final schedule so that all your tests land on the same day. I’m all for getting the longest winter break possible, but is piling up huge exams just so you can sit at home for a couple extra days really worth it? There’s no doubt you’ll be brain dead after two tests in a row. Add a third and you’re basically forfeiting a good grade. Trust me, you’ll survive without an extra day to watch Netflix in your childhood bed.
